Conjunctivitis
Conjunctivitis is the inflammation of the mucous membrane that lines the inner surface of the eyelid and the exposed surface of the eyeball. The eye will be itchy and bloodshot, or pink in color. The eyelids may stick together when closed because of pus in the membrane. Bacteria, viruses, injury, or allergy can cause this infection. Viral conjunctivitis is highly contagious.
